Benjamin Diokno: “National ID Will Hasten Social Services, Prioritize Senior Citizens.”




Good news for those looking to acquire the newly-approved National ID, the Duterte Administrationis planning to implement the system during President Rodrigo Duterte’s term.
On July 5, one of the President’s economic managers said this move was meant to ease the deliveryof social services.
According to a report by ABS-CBN, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that the national ID will replace all government-issued IDs, with the exception of a citizen’s drivers’ license and passport.
The free national identification cards will contain a Filipino citizen’s biometric data and anyone over the age of 18 is obligated to obtain one. It will be issued at birth and will be renewable once a citizen turns 18.
